Reflux

Reflux (lat. refluere = flowing back), or heartburn, is the main symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and describes the flowing back of stomach acid into the oesophagus. Because the oesophagus is not intended to tolerate the stomach acid contents, painful burning, heartburn, results.
